Mode of action and effects
digestarom in breeding feed increases the availability of protein and energy for the hens. Pullet weights at 18 weeks of life are always higher in comparison to groups fed without digestarom. The pullets begin laying eggs earlier and maintain laying performance at a higher level. Based on available data egg production can be expected to increase by 6%.
With the improvement of protein digestion a greater amount of essential amino acids are available to the animal. This also increases the average egg size. The resultant increase of yolk size and the increased supply of fat-soluble vitamins explains the positive development of the hatching rate.
Additionally, it has been observed that the chicks as well as the hens are less susceptible to infection due to their stable metabolism.
