Under the header “Effect of a commercial essential oil on growth performance, digestive enzyme activity and intestinal microflora population in broiler chickens” authors from the Department of Animal Science & Biotechnology, Regional Animal Industry Research Center (RAIRC), Jinju National University in South Korea, reports the that dietary addition of essential oils in the trial has shown a decrease of E. coli population in the ileo-cecal digesta. Furthermore, a high dose of essential oils resulted in a significant increase in certain digestive enzyme activities of the pancreas and intestine in growing broiler chickens.
